About Us

The concept of For-Bid originated from a conversation in the South Chicago Suburbs during the 1960’s between our company founder Charles Damaskus and a local veterinarian. The two discussed difficulties the vet was experiencing while trying to treat a dog that would not stop eating its feces.

At that time, Charles (known to his friends and family as Chuck) was working as a Senior Research Scientist at a local drug company. As a side project, he began working on a formulation for a product to help his veterinarian friend, and others experiencing the same problem with their pets. After research and testing, For-Bid was developed and Alpar Laboratories was incorporated shortly thereafter.

For-Bid went on to help hundreds of thousands of pet owners and become the industry standard in animal anticoprophagics. We are proud and humbled to have served such a fantastic industry for so many years. To this day, we are located in the same South Chicago Suburbs not far from where the idea of For-Bid was originated decades ago.
