I have a 9-month-old pup that developed a disgusting stool eating habit when he turned 6-months. I got him checked out at the vet to see if it was a nutrient deficiency but that was ruled out. I keep him stimulated to keep him from getting bored. I also try to pick up his poop as soon as he drops them. He’s a sneaky one and will stealthily take a piece to snack away in secret.
I’ve tried several different brands of stool eating deterrents over the course of several months but none of them worked with getting my pup to stop snacking on his poo. At my wit’s end, I took him back to the vet and she prescribed a 3-packet course of this. It worked like a charm and the poop eating stopped.
However, 2 weeks later, he started snacking on his brother’s poop so I purchased a box of 12-packets to give both of my pups a full course. Directions say that you can sprinkle a bit in their food once the full course has been administered. While it hasn’t stopped my little guy from snacking on poop 100%, it has decreased it tremendously. We’ve cut down on multiple instances a day to once a week.
